What does “lifting heavy” actually mean? 🏋🏻♀️
Lifting heavy is relative to where you’re starting from.
For some, that might mean 5kg dumbbells. For others, it might be much, much more.
The key is this: the weight should challenge you.
By the last couple of reps in your (low rep) set, you should feel like you’re working hard to maintain good form. THAT’s lifting heavy for you.
Why is this important for women?
👉 Lifting heavy helps build lean muscle, boosts strength, power, and even supports brain health. But that’s not all. As we age, our oestrogen levels naturally decline—especially post-menopause. Oestrogen plays a big role in maintaining bone density and muscle mass, so strength training becomes even more crucial for keeping our bodies strong and resilient.
Don’t be daunted by big weights if you’ve never done them before. Be Inspired!
Meet your body where you’re at, and over time, you’ll get stronger, and what’s “heavy” for you will shift.
Progress is the name of the game.
