Last week, I did a strength session- just 10-15 minutes like I always do. Nothing crazy.
But this time, I pushed too hard.
I don’t know why I did it, but I picked three heavy, HARD exercises, went to fatigue on every set, and felt pretty good about it….Until about five minutes later when I was casually chatting to Cormac… and my arms were twitching.
By that night? Muscle soreness. Uh-oh.
Obviously, it was WAY worse the next day. And then, for the next three days, I did nothing. I was sore, sluggish, and completely out of rhythm.
And it made me think…
Firstly—Silly me. (But also—what a good reminder that even when we know better, we can still overdo it!)
Secondly, it reminded me of one of the most common questions I hear from women when I’m training them:
“Is it okay if I feel this here?”, or:
“Is this good pain or bad pain?”
And it’s a GREAT question.
So good that I’ve even got a system I teach to help you answer it.
It’s called the Traffic Light System and it’s basically a simple way to tell the difference between good pain (the kind that helps you progress) and bad pain (the kind that sets you back).
I’ve recorded a quick (<2min) video for you to break it down: 🎥 Watch it here
