Hey, just checking you’re not standing still on one leg thinking this counts as balance training…?

Standing perfectly still, not a wobble in sight, might feel great. But…
It’s also not challenging you enough to actually create change 🫣

Balance works the same way strength does.
It needs to be challenging enough for your body to adapt.

The goal isn’t stillness, it’s almost losing it. Not quite, but almost. That’s the sweet spot 👌

A few ways to actually challenge your balance:

👉Narrow your base of support.
👉Change the surface, something more uneven.
👉Close your eyes.
👉Turn your head.
👉Move your upper body.

All of these add challenge, and give your body something to actively correct for. That’s where the adaptation happens.

Save this for your next balance exercise, or share it with someone who’s been standing very still and feeling very proud of it!

PS. And if you’re not challenging your balance regularly, please do- use it or lose it and all that 😉
