3 daily habits that keep me feeling strong, energised, and confident in my 40s… plus 2 more I’m dialling in.
I’m not going to sugarcoat it, After 40, things just sort of…shift. We notice the things that used to work for us don’t anymore. It’s harder to maintain our healthiest weight. WE don’t have the same energy. New aches and pains start to popup.
Not extreme. Not complicated. Just simple, consistent actions:
1️⃣ I prioritise protein. Every month or so, I track a few days of eating to check in. If I’m low, I plan it out and make sure I’m hitting my targets—because protein makes a huge difference in strength, energy, and recovery.
2️⃣ I train daily. 10-minute strength sessions are easier to build a habit around, help me move consistently, and leave me feeling better—not stiff and sore for days.
3️⃣ I walk. Whenever I can. It’s not about hitting a number, it’s about staying in motion. Because if I want to be able to do it forever, I have to keep doing it now.
And two more I’m really focusing on:
4️⃣ Sprint interval training (SIT). Short, sharp bursts of effort, done in minutes. Great for building power, speed, and endurance—without draining me.
5️⃣ Prioritising rest. Not just sleep, but real, intentional downtime to regulate my nervous system, manage stress, and recover properly. Because life is a lot.
Nothing fancy, but it works.
