I was chatting with a friend yesterday; she told me she felt like she had a real block with exercise lately.
She started talking about how, not too long ago, she was in such a good rhythm.
She was getting up early, going to the gym before the kids were awake, and watching a show she loved on the treadmill. It felt easy. She looked forward to it.
When we dug in a little, we realised it wasn’t really a block, it was this:
👉Her husband’s work schedule had shifted, so her early mornings were no longer available.
👉 Because she was in such a good rhythm, she believe that it had to be done very first thing in the morning to be successful
👉 There was no new plan to match the new schedule
👉 And on top of that, she was unknowingly using the power of temptation bundling, pairing something she needed to do with something she wanted to do. And that was gone too.
So here’s the real question to ask when motivation feels low:
“When I was last in a good rhythm – why was it working then?”
Be an investigator. Don’t just write it off as a block.
Ask why it worked before, and how you can recreate some of the magic
It doesn’t need to look identical, but the elements are clues. Use them.
