For the longest time, I thought rest meant lying down, doing nothing, trying to “switch off.”
But that kind of rest never actually helped me feel better. My mind would keep racing, my body still felt wired, and I’d get up feeling just as drained.
Then I started learning about different types of rest. And suddenly, it all made sense—rest isn’t just about stopping. It’s about restoring what you’re missing.
For me, that looks like:
🍃Time in nature—walking, breathing, letting my mind slow down
🧘♀️Breathwork—giving my nervous system space to exhale
📝Journalling—emptying the mental clutter instead of carrying it all day
Rest isn’t one-size-fits-all. If lying down doesn’t help, maybe you need a different kind of rest.
