Having more energy at 41 meant giving up these things I thought were “healthy”
👉 Skipping breakfast and calling it intermittent fasting (when really it just left me hangry and wiped out)
👉 Focusing on the number on the scales as a sign of health
👉 Staying up late to “feel prepped” for the next day instead of prioritising sleep
👉 Pushing through exhaustion (and calling it discipline)
👉 Believing soreness = success – as if I hadn’t worked out “properly” unless I could barely walk the next day
Here’s the truth: none of these things actually gave me more health, energy, or strength.
What did?
💪 Short, intentional strength sessions
🚶♀️ Walks I enjoy (not punishment)
😴 Sleep I actually protect
⚡ Fuelling my body properly
Sometimes the hardest part isn’t adding more to your routine, it’s letting go of the things that don’t serve you anymore.
