You know what’s sneaky about the “all or nothing” mindset?
On the surface, it feels aspirational. You’re all in, smashing your goals, proving how disciplined and committed you are. And when you’re in the “all” phase, it feels incredible; like nothing can stop you.
But what happens when life inevitably gets in the way? (Which, spoiler alert, it will)
It doesn’t take much to derail the “all,” and suddenly, you’re staring down “nothing.”
There’s nothing wrong with being ambitious. It can be amazing.
But the problem with “all or nothing” is that it keeps you stuck in a cycle of extremes.
The antidote? All or something.
Instead of pushing for perfection every week, think of your exercise goals on a scale.
Define BOTH your minimum and you maximum.
Your bare minimum =the thing you could still do on your busiest, hardest week.
Your deal maximum = the version that feels amazing when everything goes to plan.
Aim for somewhere in between, and tweak accordingly if you’re not falling in between the two extremes most days.
It won’t be long before you’ll start building the kind of consistency that lasts.
