It’s a typical day and I’ve also just moved my body. Because that’s what I try to do everyday. And while I was moving my body, I had a random thought pop into my head:
It takes way less work than we think it does to feel much better than we do right now.
So often, we overcomplicate things.
- We think we need a total diet & exercise overhaul to lose weight or gain energy.
- We think we need months of physio and meticulous rehab exercises to get rid of our pain.
- We think we need a fancy (expensive) ergonomic desk & chair to improve our neck tension from computer work.
- We think we need to move our bedtime 2 hours earlier, meditate, avoid screens, stop eating chocolate AND change our pillow/mattress to get a good night’s sleep.
No wonder we get overwhelmed!
The truth is, the belief that we need to overhaul everything to see any results is the very thing that is getting in the way of us feeling better than we do right now.
So today, I just want to get back to basics and share a couple of small things you can do to feel better right now:
- End your day with 5 focused deep, diaphragmatic breaths, breathing into your entire ribcage & belly, and exhaling all of the air
- Drink 2 big glasses of water as soon as you wake up in the morning
- Go for a 10min walk after lunch or dinner
- Order yourself a laptop stand if you do the majority of your work on a laptop OR put a rolled towel/lumbar support in the small of your back when you’re sitting for work and allow the chair to support you
- Focus on increasing your protein intake (as a very rough guide, aim for 30g at brekky, lunch & dinner)
- Ok, I could go on (and on and on and on 😂) But try picking just ONE, or something similar and to increase your chances of success, hit reply and let me know which one small thing you’ll be focusing on this week!
I can’t wait to hear how you go.
