Anyway, I wanted to keep this short and sweet today, and share a few of my latest favourite things for looking after myself +/- building a stronger, more resilient body. (btw – I’ve included links below in case you want to check them out; they’re not affiliate links, just things I like!)
- Protein Powder – you know I love to bang on about how important it is for women to get enough protein in! Of course, it would be ideal that we get it ALL through whole, unprocessed, foods, but having some protein powder in the house is essential for me. I use a little most days, and it’s just enough to top me up. This is the one I’ve been using; I like it because it’s unflavoured and it doesn’t mess with the taste/texture of my food. Here’s a post I recently did sharing some important facts about protein for women!
- Creatine – most people have heard of protein, but not many have heard of creatine! Which is a shame, because it’s so damn important for women, especially active women. It’s good for our strength, exercise performance, brain health and even mood. This is the one I get and I usually just throw it in with the protein powder
- Magnesium – I promise this is the last supplement I’ll recommend!! Magnesium is just one of those things that is great for our sleep, exercise recovery, cramps and muscle tension, some types of headache etc. We don’t absorb it as well as we get older and our needs are higher when we’re under lots of stress. I like this one but there are some amazing practitioner-only brands too that are worth considering if you can
- A Laptop Stand – I didn’t think I was spending enough time on my computer to justify a decent set up (I was wrong!) I got this one on amazon recently for <$30, along with an external keyboard and mouse and it’s been a game change for me
- Flexipillow – Did you know we’re meant to change our pillow every 2 years? Even if you’ve got a fabulous one, it will just lose it’s give after a couple of years. These are the pillows I stock in clinic and I LOVE them because I’ve had more success with them with more people than any others. They are contoured, comfy and adjustable to 4 different heights so great for most back and side sleepers.
Ok, I said short and sweet, but I got a bit rambly there!
Thanks for staying with me. I hope at least one of these things helps.
