One of my highest values is reliability.
If I tell someone I’ll do something, I’ll do everything in my power to make sure it happens.
Being reliable for others is something I take pride in, and I hate the feeling of not following through.
But when it comes to keeping promises to myself? That’s a different story.
“I’ll go to bed earlier tomorrow,”
“I’ll get up and do my workout,”
“I’ll finally take time for me.”
These promises get pushed aside, day after day.
It’s crazy when I think about it. We bend over backward to keep the promises we make to our kids, our partners, our friends—but when it’s just for us? Suddenly, we’re more lenient, more willing to break that commitment.
Imagine what could change if we treated the promises we make to ourselves with the same urgency…
Imagine the confidence and trust we would build in ourselves…
