Let me start by saying you can’t FAIL at posture.
There is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ way to hold your body.; There is no ‘good’ or ‘bad’ posture.
Sure, there are ways we position our bodies that we think look better. Ways that are more aesthetically pleasing.
But the truth is, most people aren’t even aware of their posture until they see:
🪟 their reflection in a window
📸 a photo of theselves (that they weren’t expecting)
👩❤️👨 or until someone close to them comments on it.
But are nice looking postures really better for our bodies? Or are they just nice to look at?
You might feel pain when you sit or stand.
So you might assume it’s because of how you sit or stand.
But what if the problen wasn’t HOW you were sitting / standing, but for HOW LONG you were sitting/standing?
See, the body craves variety.
It doesn’t like holding the same position for long periods of time (even nice-looking ones!)
It doesn’t want to do the same movement in the same way EVERY.SINGLE.TIME
So sure, stand up straight if it makes you feel good.
But maybe it’s time to stop blaming your ‘terrible posture’ for your pain, and instead look for ways to inject more variety into your day.
