I strength train for the same reason I recommend all women over 35 (ok FINE, 40) strength train. So that I can:
✅ Gain/maintain muscle mass
✅ Gain/maintain bone density
✅ Improve my function
✅ Manage my hormonal health
✅ Manage my mental health
✅ Help my metabolism
✅ Maintain / improve my pelvic floor health
✅ Improve my balance
But I also:
💪🏻Overhead press so that I can get things in and out of the top cupboard
💪🏻 Squat so that I can get out of low chairs without needing arm rests
💪🏻 Deadlift so that I can keep carrying the groceries by myself
I strength train to IMPROVE my CAPACITY. So that my daily activities are NOTHING compared to what my body can do.
