Lately, I’ve been noticing a pattern.
Someone big in the women’s health space shares a thought online, a piece of research, or an opinion…
And pretty quickly, three other “big names” jump on to tear it apart or say why it’s wrong.
Maybe it’s just an Instagram trend I’m not quite grasping…
But honestly, I’m not loving it.
I’m all for healthy discussions and critical thinking, I really am.
But mostly, seeing it unfold just makes me feel sad.
Sad for the women watching, who are already overwhelmed with advice, opinions, and noise.
Sad for the ones who end up even more stuck, feeling like they can’t start unless they know everything.
It reminds me of when I was trying to breastfeed my first baby.
I couldn’t get him to latch properly on one side.
Every midwife who came into the room had a different technique, a different opinion, a different set of instructions.
I was exhausted, confused, and starting to feel like I was failing.
Finally, an older midwife came in, shoved him on, and it just worked.
Desperately, I asked her, “How can I do that for myself when I get home?”
She shrugged and said, “I dunno.”
And honestly, that’s what the landscape on social media feels like right now.
A lot of noise.
A lot of opinions.
Not a lot of simple, practical support.
So here’s my simple advice if you’re feeling overwhelmed:
✔️ Pick just one trusted voice that resonates to listen to at a time.
✔️ Remember you can try something and adjust later, you’re not locked in forever.
✔️ Focus on your experience first, not someone else’s rules.
If you’re looking to improve or change something, you don’t need to have the whole plan mapped out before you take the first step. You just need to take the next step that feels good for you.
If you’re feeling stuck or confused about where to even start, 👉 Hit reply and let me know-What’s one thing you’re getting conflicting advice on right now?
It could be about exercise, food, rest, recovery… anything.
Sometimes you don’t even realise it’s swirling around in your head until you say it out loud or put it on paper.
