EPISODE 3:From “I hate exercise” to moving daily — Em’s story of self-trust and strength
From “I hate exercise” to moving daily — Em’s story of self-trust and strength
EPISODE DESCRIPTION
What if exercise didn’t have to start with motivation, but could create it?
In this special member spotlight episode, I’m joined by Em, one of the incredible women inside my GLOW10 Tribe. Her story isn’t about being perfect or “into fitness” — it’s about what happens when you stop waiting to feel better and start using movement as the tool to feel better.
We talk about:
-
How Em went from hating exercise to moving most days
-
What helps her stay consistent (without a strict routine)
-
The self-compassion and confidence she’s built through movement
-
Why balance, energy, and progress look different for every body
This conversation is warm, honest, and full of moments you might just see yourself in. Because sometimes the most powerful shift happens when you hear the right thing, in the right voice, at the right time.

From “I Hate Exercise” to Moving Most Days — Em’s Story of Self-Trust and Strength
What if exercise didn’t start with motivation — but created it?
This episode of the Everyday Glow Show is one of my favourites so far because it’s not just me talking. It’s a real conversation with one of the incredible women inside the GLOW10 Tribe, and someone I know so many of you will relate to: Em.
Em didn’t start off loving exercise. In fact, she used to hate it. She wasn’t someone who thought she’d ever stick with a workout plan. She wasn’t into fitness. She wasn’t doing it for weight loss. But something changed — and now she moves most days, feels more confident in her body, and has built a deep trust in her ability to keep showing up.
This isn’t a highlight reel. It’s the real story of what sustainable movement actually looks like for everyday women — especially when life is full, energy is inconsistent, and you’re starting from scratch.
“I just don’t like it.” — Em’s starting point
Before she joined GLOW10, Em had never done strength training on her own. No solo workouts. No home gym setup. She even said she didn’t like walking. Her past experience with exercise had always been through team sports — where it felt more like fun than a workout.
But after starting Pilates and feeling the benefits, she was curious. So she gave the GLOW10 program a go — even though she wasn’t sure she’d follow through.
Her only real question?
“Will I actually do it?”
Spoiler alert: She did. She still does. And not because she became “motivated” overnight, but because she started feeling better. And that feeling became her fuel.
What changed: From fatigue to trust
Like many women, Em used to let fatigue call the shots. She’d feel exhausted and decide, “Nope, not today.”
Now? She’s more in tune with her body. She’s learned the difference between the kind of tired that needs rest, and the kind of tired that movement can shift.
And that distinction changed everything.
Instead of asking, “Do I feel like it?” she started asking:
-
“Will I feel better if I move?”
-
“What kind of movement would support me right now?”
-
“Can I try, just for 10 minutes?”
She noticed her energy lifted, her mood shifted, and she started building confidence in her ability to bounce back. As Em says,
“It shows me that as I get older, I don’t have to feel old.”
Progress looks different for everyone
Em’s story is a powerful reminder that we don’t need to get it perfect — we just need to start.
Here are some of the mindset shifts that helped her stay consistent:
🔸 1. Progress is worth celebrating — even when it’s slow
At first, balance was a massive challenge. She’d wobble. She’d fall.
But instead of getting frustrated, she made it a game. She tracked small wins. And eventually, she hit 30 seconds of single-leg balance — something she never thought she’d do.
“I used to push through things. Now I’m playful and curious. That’s what’s helped me progress.”
🔸 2. She doesn’t rely on routine — she relies on visibility
Rather than setting a fixed time each day, Em leaves her weights out in the open.
They’re a visual nudge. She might not do it at the same time every day — but the reminder is always there.
🔸 3. She moves to shift her state — not just her strength
Whether it’s a heavy mood, a flat afternoon, or a scrolling spiral, Em uses movement to interrupt the pattern.
“Just 10 minutes of moving shifts my whole energy. It’s not just physical — it changes my mindset and helps me feel more like me.”
What helps Em stay consistent (even when she doesn’t feel like it)
We talked about those moments we all have — when we’re tired, flat, and stuck in that “I can’t be bothered” energy.
And for Em, what gets her moving isn’t guilt. It’s clarity.
She knows how good she feels afterwards. She knows what’s waiting on the other side of that short session. And she’s built trust in herself that she’ll get there if she just starts.
One of my favourite things she said?
“There’s still a voice that says, ‘I don’t want to’ — but now there’s a louder voice that says, ‘I’ve got this.’”
That’s what creates momentum.
Not discipline. Not perfection.
Self-trust.
Em’s message to you
If you’ve ever thought you’re too unfit, too tired, too old, too inconsistent to start… Em’s story is proof that you’re not.
You don’t have to overhaul your life. You don’t need a massive plan. You just need one small step — repeated, gently, with curiosity and care.
“The changes didn’t happen because I forced myself. They happened because I stayed curious and kept showing up.”
