Have you ever wondered why other people seem to find it easy to exercise consistently? Is it because you’re lazy and they’re not? Is it because they don’t have as much going on? Is it because they’ve got more time and money?
I’ve helped hundreds of women become more consistent with their exercise, and in my experience, it’s none of those things.
Here are three things I wish everyone knew about being a ‘consistent exerciser’:
1️⃣ Being consistent doesn’t mean being perfect. Consistency requires a zoomed-out view. It’s not about nailing the perfect week, week after week. Results come from an accumulation of what we do over time, not how perfect we can be in one week.
2️⃣ You’re not always going to feel like it. Motivation doesn’t come first—action does. Often, it’s showing up that creates the motivation to keep going, not the other way around. The key is to start, even if you don’t feel like it, because more times than not, the energy will follow.
3️⃣ You need an anchor & a sail. Your anchor is the minimum you commit to, even on tough days. It could be a stretch, 1 set of squats, or a walk around the block. Your sail is what you aim for when you’re feeling ready to push yourself further. Both are essential, and both keep you moving forward. Defining these for yourself and aiming to remain within this range will keep you moving forward.
Which of these mindset shifts could you focus on this week?
