There’s a whole lot of misguided information out there about what women over 40 need for their health- and most of it involves women punishing themselves.
Here are 5 things women over 40 need to stop believing about fitness:
1️⃣ You need to do intense cardio to lose weight. A couple of well programmed high intesnity / interval sessions are super effective for women, but cardio is a much smaller piece of the puzzle than most women think.
2️⃣ Low impact is best. While low-impact options can be a great option for women with pelvic floor concerns and joint pain, throwing in a few high impact options is great for bones & power development.
3️⃣ Strength training is just about muscles. Strength training builds more than muscle- it supports bone health, brain health, heart health, reduces pain, boosts energy, and helps you feel capable in everyday life.
4️⃣ You should feel sore after every workout. Consistency beats soreness every time, and it’s much easier to be consistent if you can’t train because you’re crawling out of bed the next day.
5️⃣ More exercise is always better. Rest and recovery is where the realy magic happens. Without them, you’ll struggle to see results and risk burning out.
